What is the Small Business Relief under the UAE Corporate Tax?
The UAE introduced Corporate Tax starting June 1, 2023, which means businesses need to pay tax on the profits they earn. However, to support small businesses and entrepreneurs, the UAE offers something called Small Business Relief under Article 21 of Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022. This relief is designed to reduce the tax burden and make compliance easier for qualifying businesses.
With Small Business Relief, eligible businesses can be considered to have zero taxable income for a specified tax period. This means they won’t need to pay corporate tax for that year and can avoid dealing with complex tax filing requirements.
Who is eligible?
To qualify for Small Business Relief, a business must:
- Be a Resident Person, which includes individuals and entities carrying out business in the UAE.
- Have total revenue for the tax period (and any previous periods) not exceeding AED 3 million, as specified by the Ministerial Decision No. 73 of 2023.
- Meet any additional conditions set by the Ministry of Finance.
