What Is an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) in UAE E-Invoicing?

The UAE is introducing a nationwide e-invoicing system to modernize how businesses issue and report tax invoices. This digital transformation will be implemented in phases starting June 2026, initially targeting businesses that meet specific revenue thresholds. A key part of this new structure is the Accredited Service Provider, or ASP, which plays a central role in making e-invoicing work smoothly and in line with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) guidelines.

An Accredited Service Provider is a certified third-party platform approved by UAE authorities to manage and validate electronic tax invoices. When a business issues an invoice, it is sent to an ASP, which checks the invoice, converts it into the required UAE XML format, forwards it to the buyer’s ASP, and reports it directly to the FTA. This ensures that every invoice follows a unified structure and can be tracked in real time for transparency and tax compliance.

Even if you are using your own bookkeeping and accounting software, you cannot submit invoices to the FTA on your own. Your system must be connected to an ASP using secure channels like API, XML, or SFTP. Without this integration, your invoices will not be recognized as valid under the UAE’s e-invoicing rules. This step is crucial for businesses already managing VAT registration, corporate tax registration, and other tax-related filings, as e-invoicing will directly support accurate VAT and corporate tax filing processes.

Each invoice must include complete line-item details, such as product or service descriptions, quantities, unit prices, and applicable VAT. The FTA will not accept simplified invoices or summaries when multiple distinct goods or services are sold. In addition, all taxable sales must have a corresponding tax invoice submitted, even if a customer accepts a quotation and does not specifically request a formal invoice.

Currently, e-invoicing is voluntary, provided both the seller and buyer agree to use the system. However, this will change in 2026, and updated legislation is expected by mid-2025. Businesses that act early can reduce future pressure and ensure their systems are aligned with national standards, which will also support wider goals like preparing for financial audit reports and improving compliance workflows.

To get started, businesses should look out for the official ASP list to be published by the Ministry of Finance. In the meantime, it’s recommended to assess whether your current systems are ready for integration, explore partnerships with potential ASPs, and start mapping out internal processes to support automated invoice generation and reporting.
